OF COURSE Lumen and I were both forbidden to see each other after the water tower incident. It didn’t mean we weren’t in constant contact. All I had to do was concentrate and call her name in my mind, and if she wasn’t too busy “remote viewing” or “pushing” some foreign dignitary, she’d answer me. I also began to have these lucid dreams with Lumen in them. She would tell me things about Paragon, Dr. Albion, Project Starseed, and EBE, UBE, and Kun. The dreams stayed with me too; I remembered everything we talked about in them when I woke up.

And another funny thing happened. I didn’t say “lemonade” after Lumen had been in my head anymore. I don’t know when it stopped happening, but it did, which was a real relief. Maybe it was because she was there so often, I developed some kind of immunity to her, if that’s the right word. Now there was no way anyone could tell I’d been in contact with her.

Dr. Albion had been hinting about a big experiment coming up for me. It had to do with measuring my bioelectric output. She also said I’d get to see the Skipping Stone after all, whatever that was.

Dr. Albion seemed particularly pleased about that one.
